OMAHA, Neb. — Georgia baseball’s College World Series game against Texas on Saturday night is being delayed by severe weather in the area. It is now scheduled to start at 8:45 p.m. ET.
A press box announcement made at 7:20 p.m. said the game was in a weather delay from its 8 p.m. start.

The tarp was rolled onto the field more than 90 minutes before the game time as rain fell.
That’s a time where the teams would be going through pre-game work on the field, but they remained in their locker rooms.
Fans began being allowed to make their way to their seats at about 7:05 p.m. Georgia and Texas pitchers began working out in their bullpens at about 7:40 p.m.
The tarp was off at 7:47 p.m.
There were heavy storms on Saturday morning in the area, but the weather cleared and the first game of the day was played without interruption. Oklahoma routed Alabama 9-0.
Saturday night’s game was the first CWS game for Georgia since 2008.

Georgia baseball vs Texas in weather delay
Georgia is accustomed to weather delays this postseason.
It waited out an hour delay in an SEC Tournament 8-7 semifinal win over Florida on May 23.
Georgia’s opening game of the Athens Regional against Long Island was suspended due to inclement weather on May 29 and resumed at 9 a.m. on May 30. Georgia completed an 18-2 win.
