ROUND ROCK, Texas- After one week away from the circle, former Tech pitcher NiJaree Canady has officially signed to play for the Texas Volts in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League, as confirmed by the organization on social media Friday.
The terms of her agreement have not yet been announced. In early May, she was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft- only behind pitcher Karlyn Pickens of Tennessee who went to the Carolina Blaze.
Canady came to Lubbock in 2024 and helped lead the Red Raiders to the Women’s College World Series finals two years in a row. Last season, she had a record of 29-7 with an ERA of 1.87. With more of a solo role in 2025, her record was 34-7 with an ERA of 1.11.
Her two-hitter in game two of the semifinals against No. 1 Alabama in the WCWS semifinals earlier this month was one of the most clutch performances in collegiate softball history. She also joins former Red Raider teammate Jackie Lis as a part of the Volts organization.
