LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – This week, the West Texas State Veterans Cemetery will become part of the National Purple Heart Trail. The Military Order of the Purple Heart will lead a special designation ceremony at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 17.
The West Texas State Veterans Cemetery is will receive a sign that marks the high price our veterans have paid for freedom. A ‘Combat Wounded’ parking sign will also be installed.
The Purple Heart Trail is an honorary system of roads, highways, bridges and other monuments that give tribute to the men and women awarded the Purple Heart medal, bestowed upon service members who were hurt or killed in combat.
