Houston’s Rain Timeline: Tracking waves of downpours Monday that may lead to street flooding

  • June 15, 2026

Happening NOW: We’re under a flood watch until Wednesday, 7am. As we we watch and track rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. Most areas will pick up 2 to 3 inches of rain, but there could be some locally higher totals near 8 inches over the next couple of days.

TIMELINE:

Isolated rain in the morning (rain for a select few but not all)

Picking up around 11 am on the west and north side (rain for some not all)

Shifting more to the northern areas by dinner time with heavier rounds of rain.

Through Wednesday

You can track radar here before you leave for work today:

I’m monitoring a low-pressure system moving through Mexico; it is expected to funnel deep, rich tropical moisture into the area. The low-pressure system currently has a 30% chance of developing into a tropical system, but regardless of development, it will still draw in tropical moisture into southeast Texas at least through the end of the week.

A low chance for tropical development, but a high chance for tropical moisture to reach southeast Texas

Monday through Wednesday the tropical moisture will combine with a slow-moving cold front. That will help bring waves of rain through the middle of the week.

Slow moving front arrives early week10-day forecast:

Rain and storm chances continue through the late week. By the weekend, southeast Texas dries out, but the heat and humidity will return swiftly.
