Researchers at WalletHub shared a study Monday looking at all 50 states and ranking the most patriotic. Texas was not at the top of the list, or the middle; it was ranked 45th.
Virginia, of all places, took the top score as most patriotic, while Arkansas was ranked the lowest right after New York (take that!)

Before anyone starts drafting an angry letter, remember: Chron didn’t conduct the study.
WalletHub based its rankings on data ranging from the state’s military enlistees and veterans, including the share of adults who voted in the 2024 presidential election and the AmeriCorps volunteers per capita. In other words, they looked at military and civic engagement with sources from the U.S. Census Bureau, Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as several other organizations like the Peace Corps.
“The most patriotic states have a lot of residents who serve or have served in the armed forces, high voter turnouts during elections, and a high share of the population volunteering with national or local organizations,” Chip Lupo, WalletHub Analyst, said in a statement. “Patriotism also isn’t concentrated in any one particular area—the top states are located in vastly different geographic regions.”
