El Paso County Commissioners approved a resolution on Monday to declare June 2026 as “Responsible Fatherhood Month.”
The resolution came from County Judge Ricardo Samaniego.
“We have a moral and economic duty to support our children and to promote positive outcomes for the youth through early intervention,” said Samaniego.
“ We as fathers, whether biological, a father figure, foster, or adoptive, deserve honor and gratitude. Father’s Day is a time to honor fathers, thank them for their love and support, and the vital role they play in their children’s lives,” said Samaniego.
The Pastor of Citizens Defending Freedom was at the meeting, Ed Luis Cabrera, and said a few words.
“Strong families and strong fathers help build a strong community and build strong families as well,” said Cabrera.
“Research shows children are more likely to succeed when fathers are actively involved in their lives,” he said.
Several pastors of other churches and leaders of other organizations were at the meeting as well.
