LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Frenship ISD teacher has been named the Texas Outstanding Elementary Teacher of the Year for her creative approach to social studies education.
Saundra Wimberley, a first-grade teacher at Crestview Elementary, received the award from the Texas Council for the Social Studies.
The recognition is given to only one elementary teacher across the state each year for their impact on the field of social studies.
Wimberley was previously selected as the Elementary Social Studies Teacher of the Year in May by the Staked Plains Council for Social Studies, the local chapter of the Texas Council for the Social Studies.
Wimberley has been teaching for 25 years.
