One of KPRC 2’s most recognizable reporters is leaving the station. Gage Goulding announced Monday night that this week will be his last at the NBC affiliate, ending a run that saw him cover some of the region’s biggest stories and become a familiar face to viewers across Southeast Texas.
“When I arrived in Houston, I knew I was joining one of the biggest, most diverse and passionate communities in the country,” Goulding wrote in a social media post. “What I didn’t know was just how much of an impact this city would have on me.”
Reflecting on his time in Houston, Goulding thanked viewers for welcoming him into their homes and trusting him with their stories. He said he witnessed some of the community’s most significant moments, from hurricanes and heartbreaking tragedies to major victories and countless reminders of what makes Houston unique.
“For that trust, I am deeply grateful,” he wrote.
While Goulding did not reveal where he is headed next, he hinted that an announcement is coming soon.
“While my time at KPRC is coming to an end, this isn’t goodbye,” he wrote. “A new chapter begins soon and I look forward to sharing more about it. Until then, thank you, Houston.”
His departure prompted an outpouring of reactions from viewers in the comments.
“The revolving door at KPRC 2 continues,” one viewer wrote. “I actually liked this guy.”
“Well, you are one of our KPRC favorites and hate to lose you, but we wish you well in your next chapter,” another commented.
“WOW!!!! This makes me so incredibly sad. One of the best reporters this city has ever seen. All my best to you Gage, your wife and your fur babies! We truly are heartbroken by this news,” a third viewer wrote.
Goulding joined KPRC 2 in December 2023 after working as a reporter for WBBH/WZVN in Fort Myers, Fla for three years.
Other previous stops include WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio, where Goulding worked as an anchor and reporter, and KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, where he was a digital content producer.
A native of Ligonier, Pa., Goulding studied journalism at Robert Morris University near Pittsburgh. He has earned multiple honors for his work, including a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award while still in college.
