OMAHA, Neb. — Needing a win to stay alive at the College World Series, Texas will hand the baseball to Luke Harrison.
Texas has announced that Harrison will start on the mound against Georgia in Tuesday’s elimination game at the College World Series. Georgia is set to counter with Dylan Vigue.
A junior right-hander who spent his first two years of college at Michigan, Vigue is 4-1 with a 4.73 ERA in 2026.
Despite tabbing Harrison as its starter, Texas will likely use a most-hands-on-deck strategy during tonight’s game. Due to their heavy workloads in UT’s first two games at the College World Series, Dylan Volantis and Ruger Riojas aren’t expected options against the Bulldogs, but Brody Walls is the only other Longhorn who has thrown more than 20 pitches in Omaha. All-American closer Sam Cozart hasn’t pitched since June 7 and often-used relievers Thomas Burns and Haiden Leffew have yet to make an appearance at the 2026 College World Series.
Georgia also has plenty of well-rested options. Joey Volchko, who threw a complete game against Texas this past Saturday, and Caden Aoki, who pitched eight innings against Oklahoma on Monday, are the only pitchers that Georgia has used at the College World Series.
If Texas (46-14) beats Georgia (52-13), the Longhorns will advance in the College World Series bracket. The Longhorns would then need two wins over Oklahoma (40-22) in order to reach the NCAA’s championship series.
