Nick’s Tacos & Catering has been serving food in San Antonio for more than a decade, and for the last two years, the business has operated out of its bright yellow home on the city’s Southwest Side. However, Nick’s Tacos will soon close its doors, ending a brief era in the restaurant’s extensive run.
On Monday, June 15, Pastor Regina Navarro, who owns Nick’s Tacos with her husband, announced that the faith-based taqueria will vacate its location on New Laredo Highway at the end of the month, closing its doors on June 30.
“We’ve invested countless tears, sweat, and blood into this establishment, pouring our hearts and resources into its growth. Now, we’re left with nothing but our name and faith,” Navarro wrote in a heartfelt Facebook post.
Nick’s Tacos will remain open for the next two weeks with service on June 19, 20, 25 and 27. In a direct message, the team behind Nick’s told MySA, “We tried to hold on as much as we could. We just came in to our 2 year anniversary this month. It saddens us to leave the building especially the community.”
Though Nick’s Tacos will leave its physical location, Navarro and her family are committed to continuing its fundraising efforts, including a backpack giveaway for students headed back to school and its homeless ministry. Nick’s Tacos will also be available for catering as the restaurant seeks a new home.
