A busy highway in San Antonio is partially shut down on Wednesday, June 17, after a vehicle caught fire. Traffic cameras show tons of smoke near the site.
The incident is causing delays for drivers on the Far Northside, near Castle Hills. Two right lanes are closed on U.S. 281 South at Jones Maltsberger Road as authorities work at the scene.
Commuters are snailing along the roadways, with most moving between 8 and 17 mph. Only the two right lanes are open, so folks are backed up to Bitters Road.
The traffic monitoring site SigAlert states that delays could last at least 20 minutes. TxDOT cameras show a fire truck and traffic cones near a cloud of smoke. There is no word on when the lanes will reopen or if anyone was injured.
