Anna at Prosper Walnut Grove

7 p.m. Friday at Children’s Health Stadium

This game will go a long way toward deciding the District 4-5A Division II champion, although Melissa will have a say in that as well. Walnut Grove is 6-0 on the season and tied with Melissa for first place, one game ahead of Anna. Anna handed Walnut Grove its only district loss last year, winning 55-41 in a game in which the teams combined for 1,245 yards of offense. Ziondre Williams threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns for Anna in that game, and this year he ranks fourth among area 5A quarterbacks in passing yards (1,499) and is seventh in touchdown passes (17). Walnut Grove star running back Cam Newton ran for 265 yards and three touchdowns against Anna last year and ranks second in the 5A area in rushing yards this year with 1,115, in addition to ranking first with 18 touchdown runs. Walnut Grove is in its third year of varsity football, but it’s only the second year it has been in a UIL district, and it is 11-1 in league play in its history.

Riddle’s pick: Prosper Walnut Grove 49, Anna 42

Argyle Liberty Christian at Parish Episcopal

7 p.m. Friday

Argyle Liberty Christian won the TAPPS Division I state title last year, beating Parish Episcopal 45-24 in the championship game. That ended a run of five straight state titles for Parish Episcopal. This year, both teams are undefeated in district, and this could be a preview of a state championship game rematch. Michigan pledge Jaylen Pile has 34 catches for 690 yards and eight touchdowns for Parish Episcopal and will be facing a Liberty Christian defense led by five-star junior Cooper Witten, the top-ranked linebacker in the nation in the Class of 2027. Witten, the son of former Cowboys star tight end Jason Witten, is averaging 13.2 tackles per game and has nine tackles for loss in addition to being the team’s leading receiver with 41 catches for 709 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Riddle’s pick: Argyle Liberty Christian 35, Parish Episcopal 31

Waxahachie at Cedar Hill

7 p.m. Friday

Cedar Hill is trying to win its first district title since 2019, and it is the only team that is 3-0 in District 11-6A. But it hasn’t played Waxahachie, Duncanville or DeSoto, three of the four teams that are tied for second in 11-6A at 2-1. This game will feature two of the top seven recruits in Texas in the Class of 2027, with five-star Cedar Hill defensive lineman Jalen Brewster committed to Texas Tech and four-star Waxahachie defensive back JayQuan Snell listing 41 college offers. Junior quarterback Jerry Meyer III, committed to TCU, has thrown at least three touchdown passes in three of Waxahachie’s five games. His top target is Texas pledge Kohen Brown, who has 29 catches for 463 yards and six touchdowns.

Riddle’s pick: Waxahachie 35, Cedar Hill 21

Duncanville at Lancaster

7 p.m. Friday

Duncanville suffered its only loss on Sept. 19, falling 28-27 to Waxahachie. Duncanville looked like a completely different team last week, beating rival DeSoto 48-28 as Maximus The Great Denson threw for 342 yards and seven touchdowns. He tied the school record for most touchdown passes in a game, set last year by five-star Alabama signee Keelon Russell, the No. 2 recruit in the nation in the Class of 2025. Duncanville beat Lancaster 41-7 last year as SMU pledge Zach Turner had eight catches for 169 yards and three touchdowns, and Lancaster will have to contend with Turner again this year.

Lewisville at Coppell

7 p.m. Friday

Coppell’s 20-game district winning streak ended with a 35-21 loss to Denton Guyer on Oct. 3, and if Coppell hopes to win a third straight district title then it must beat Lewisville to have a shot at that. Lewisville and Guyer are tied for the District 5-6A lead, one game ahead of Coppell, and Lewisville is 6-0 overall while outscoring the opposition 228-84. Lewisville quarterback Tre Williams already has 19 touchdown passes, the same number he had all of last season. Lewisville has played one of the toughest schedules in the area and already has four wins against teams currently ranked in the top 20 in D-FW in 6A or 5A.

Riddle’s pick: Lewisville 28, Coppell 20

Lake Highlands vs. Richardson Berkner

7 p.m. Friday at Wildcat-Ram Stadium

Lake Highlands is trying to win its third straight district title, and a win here would go a long way toward accomplishing that goal. Lake Highlands and surprising Berkner are tied for first in District 7-6A at 3-0, and Berkner is 4-1 overall. Berkner hasn’t won more than seven games in a season since finishing 9-4 in 2006. Lake Highlands quarterback Chuck Smith has three games with more than 300 yards passing, and four-star SMU pledge Christian Rhodes has three 100-yard games on the ground.

Riddle’s pick: Lake Highlands 38, Richardson Berkner 17

7 p.m. Friday

The winner of this gains sole possession of first place in District 3-5A Division II. Argyle has won five in a row, a streak that includes victories against area-ranked Mansfield Timberview, Colleyville Heritage and Arlington Seguin. Argyle has one of the best big-play receivers in the area with four-star junior Julian Caldwell, who averages 20.9 yards per catch and has eight touchdown catches. Summit, meanwhile, has a prolific running game, as running back Adarion Nettles and quarterback Ian Gebhardt have combined to rush for 1,586 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Riddle’s pick: Argyle 31, Mansfield Summit 28

Frisco vs. Frisco Wakeland

7 p.m. Thursday at the Ford Center at The Star

This is a pivotal game in District 5-5A Division I, as Wakeland leads the district by a half-game over Frisco Lone Star, with Frisco one game back in the loss column. At 7-0, Wakeland needs just two more wins to tie the school record for most wins in a season, accomplished by nine-win teams in 2007, 2021 and 2023. Wakeland quarterback Jayden Maples has thrown for 1,608 yards and 20 touchdowns, with only one interception. Last year, he rallied Wakeland from a 20-7 fourth-quarter deficit for a 21-20 win over Frisco.

Riddle’s pick: Frisco Wakeland 28, Frisco 24

Guyer’s losses were by seven points to 12-time state champion Aledo and by one point to defending 6A Division I state champion North Crowley. Marcus four-star junior Colton Nussmeier is rated the fifth-best quarterback in the nation in the Class of 2027, but Guyer held him to 197 yards and no touchdown passes in a 42-13 win last year.

Riddle’s pick: Denton Guyer 35, Flower Mound Marcus 21
