BUT YOU KNOW, THIS IS SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE IT IS THE FIRST NAMED STORM OF THE SEASON. WE HAVE BEEN TRACKING IT FOR YOU. AND AS WE HAVE PREDICTED AND IT HAS VERIFIED RIGHT ON CUE, THE ADVISORY AT 11:00 THIS MORNING, WE GOT AN UPGRADE TO TROPICAL STORM ARTHUR. IT HAS 40 MILE AN HOUR WINDS AND IS LOCATED OVER THE SOUTHERN PART OF TEXAS, ABOUT SOUTHEAST OF HOUSTON RIGHT NOW, AND PORT O’CONNOR, TEXAS, AND IS MOVING TO THE NORTHEAST AT NINE MILES AN HOUR. SO IT’S PICKED UP A LITTLE FORWARD MOMENTUM. IT IS REALLY JUST GOING TO SKIRT THE COASTLINE OF SOUTH TEXAS HERE FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE AFTERNOON. THIS EVENING MOVES IN ACROSS TEXAS AND INTO SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA, LOSING INTENSITY AS IT DOES INTERACT WITH LAND. SO BY TOMORROW WE’RE TALKING ABOUT JUST AN EXTRA TROPICAL LOW, BUT EITHER WAY, IT’S ALREADY DONE THE DAMAGE AND IT’S CONTINUING TO EXACERBATE AN ALREADY WATERLOGGED NORTHERN GULF COAST FROM HOUSTON ALL THE WAY OVER TO NEW ORLEANS, SHREVEPORT, JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, EVEN PARTS OF MOBILE, ALABAMA INTO ATLANTA ARE UNDER THIS FLOOD WATCH NOW, WHERE YOU SEE THE BRIGHTER GREENS HERE. THOSE ARE FLOOD WARNINGS THAT HAVE BEEN IN EFFECT. WE’VE HAD A COUPLE OF FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS THIS MORNING. SO VOLATILE SITUATION THERE. MEANWHILE HERE IT’S A MAJOR RISK FOR HEAT EXPOSURE TODAY. Tropical Storm Arthur formed Wednesday, becoming the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season.Arthur is moving northeast along the middle of Texas’ coast and is expected to cause life-threatening flooding across parts of the southeast United States, according to the National Hurricane Center. As of the 11:30 a.m. advisory, Arthur was located about 60 miles east-northeast of Port O’Connor, Texas and about 165 miles west-southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
