Hilliard Center to receive nearly $4 million in upgrades

The Hilliard Center is set for nearly $4 million in improvements, including upgraded suites and remodeled second-floor restrooms.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Hilliard Center is set to undergo nearly $4 million in renovations as Corpus Christi leaders move forward with a project aimed at improving the facility and enhancing the experience for visitors.

The rehabilitation project will focus on several upgrades throughout the arena, including improvements to the venue’s lounge suites and a complete remodel of the second-floor restrooms. City officials say the renovations are designed to modernize the facility while protecting an important source of revenue generated by the center.

According to Corpus Christi Director of Engineering Services Jeff Edmonds, the suite areas play a major role in the venue’s financial success.

“The suites produce a significant amount of revenue. They make about a million dollars a year on those suites,” Edmonds said. “We also use that area to kind of showcase the city, so it’s important to put our best foot forward.”

Officials say the improvements will help maintain the Hilliard Center’s appeal for guests, event organizers and corporate clients who use the facility throughout the year.

The Hilliard Center hosts a variety of events, including concerts, sporting events, conventions and community gatherings. City leaders believe the upgrades will help ensure the venue remains competitive while providing a better experience for visitors.

Construction is expected to continue through the remainder of the year, with the project scheduled for completion by December.

The nearly $4 million investment is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve public facilities that serve residents and visitors while supporting economic activity in Corpus Christi.
