Storm surge from Tropical Storm Arthur inundated parts of Texas’ Bolivar Peninsula on Wednesday, June 17, as rough conditions battered the Gulf Coast.

Footage shared by Jack Revnew shows rough surf pounding the shoreline as elevated water levels affected the peninsula. Revnew said storm surge waters were “extraordinarily close” to crossing Highway 87.

Local media reported that surf, sand and debris were pushed across stretches of the highway, while the National Weather Service issued flash flood warnings for parts of the upper Texas coast. Credit: Jack Revnew via Storyful
