9 arrests have been made since the World Cup began in Arlington

Following the first two 2026 FIFA World Cup games in North Texas, a total of nine arrests have been made, according to an Arlington police statement.

Arlington police spokesman Tim Ciesco said there were no major security issues at the match between England and Croatia, and the department was very pleased overall with how the games played out.

“We felt things went well,” Ciesco said. He shared a similar sentiment Monday after the World Cup match between the Netherlands and Japan.

Here are the arrests and charges in connection with the two games:

Police said all Sunday arrests were Texas residents. Wednesday’s arrests included four Texas residents, one out-of-state visitor, and one overseas visitor who was not from England or Croatia. 

In relation to stadium fights, Ciesco said, only two calls for service were made. Neither of the calls resulted in arrests.

“When fans become unruly, stadium security staff will typically intervene first in an effort to calm the situation,” Ciesco said. “They can call for officers if they need additional assistance.”

He said it isn’t uncommon for security to resolve a situation without needing police assistance.

The region’s next World Cup game will take place Monday, June 22, at the Dallas Stadium, or AT&T Stadium, at 12 p.m. between Argentina and Austria.
