LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A new summer program at the South Plains Food Bank Farm is giving local teens a chance to build leadership skills while helping fight hunger.
The “Seeds of Impact” teen summer camp is part of a pilot youth program hosted at the South Plains Food Bank Farm, 304 76th Street in Lubbock. The camp runs weekday mornings from July 6 through July 23, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Designed for teens ages 14 to 18, the program combines hands-on farm work with mentoring and wellness activities. Organizers say teens will “grow, lead, and give back” as they learn about agriculture, food insecurity, and community service.
The camp is a partnership between the South Plains Food Bank Farm and Texas Tech University’s Center for Adolescent Resiliency, an outreach unit of the College of Health & Human Sciences that focuses on helping youth navigate real-life challenges through learner-focused programs.
There is no cost to participate, but teens must register in advance using the QR code provided on the camp flyer.
