Families with students attending summer school at Kaffie Middle School will be updated before classes resume on Monday.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —  The Corpus Christi Independent School District (CCISD) says it is continuing to address an HVAC issue that has caused warm conditions at Kaffie Middle School, where summer school classes are being held.

According to the district, officials reviewed notification procedures with all summer school coordinators on Wednesday afternoon after becoming aware of the problem.

On Thursday, while the HVAC issue remained unresolved, summer school administrators moved students to alternative areas of the building with cooler temperatures and provided bottled water to help keep students comfortable.

CCISD said parents were notified of the ongoing situation at approximately 9:15 a.m. Thursday and were given the option to pick up their children without any attendance penalty.

District officials thanked maintenance staff and contractors for their efforts to complete the necessary repairs.

“We apologize for the warm conditions,” CCISD said in a statement.
