After leaving its longtime home in September 2024, Bobbie’s Southern Kitchen (aka Bobbie’s Cafe) will once again be flipping pancakes on the South Side. The classic San Antonio restaurant has announced that it will open its long-awaited new diner at 1922 Goliad Rd. on November 6.

Owners Ana and Greg Ferris teased the upcoming opening in summer 2024, when it shuttered Bobbie’s longtime home in preparation for a move north to 606 Embassy Oaks. The couple promised it would soon reappear in the neighborhood, saying they were eyeing the Neptune’s Seafood House space for their next chapter.

Bobbie’s is one of the most storied names in the San Antonio restaurant scene. Robert and Vida Condra started the legacy by converting the Bob Jones Truck Stop into a homestyle cafe in 1972. Their daughter Bobbie and husband Santos Padilla moved the restaurant to South Flores in 1986.

Bobbie and Santos’ daughter, Nancy, and husband Randy Ferris, later took over the restaurant. After working in the restaurant throughout his teenage years, Greg took over the reins with Ana in 2020, continuing the family ownership into a fourth generation.

The new South Side Bobbie’s will have much of the same menu as the original San Pedro spot, serving homestyle Southern favorites like chicken fried steak and eggs, blueberry pancakes, and famous scratch-made biscuits. And, of course, there will be pies like a coconut cream towering with meringue.

But burgers won’t be on the menu — at least for now. Ana previously said that Bobbie’s is holding off on slinging patties to not compete with its neighbor, Kenny’s Burgers.

The South Side Bobbie’s will kick off its grand opening at 8 pm on Thursday, November 6. Regular hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 am–2:30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 7:30 am-2:30 pm.
