Bigger threat to water

There’s a more serious threat to San Antonio’s water supply: Lennar Homes’ proposed development of Guajolote Ranch, just north of Scenic Loop Road.
Lennar wants to build a dense subdivision with a privately owned sewage treatment plant and a license to discharge more than 1 million gallons per day of effluent into the Helotes Creek drainage. That drainage feeds into the Trinity Glen Rose Aquifer, from which many area residents draw their well water.
That aquifer also feeds into the Edwards Aquifer, the largest source of water for more than 2 million residents in the San Antonio area.
Privately owned sewage treatment plants in Texas have a reputation for frequently overflowing their prescribed limits and malfunctioning, and even when working properly and within those limits, they do not remove all harmful chemicals from the water.

Once the “treated” water and its residual chemicals reach our aquifers, those aquifers cannot be uncontaminated.
Our county commissioners, City Council members and state representatives have stated their opposition to the project, but somehow it keeps moving forward.
Lennar has a lot of power and money. Will some public official please step up to the plate and help us stop Lennar from pursuing this development?

No place like America
An interesting segment on TV showed how soccer — or fútbol — fans from around the world are absolutely amazed and loving their first time in the U.S.
They are astonished at the bounty; places like Walmart, Buc-ee’s, Waffle House and In-N-Out Burger are like nothing they have ever seen in other countries.

They also are complimentary of the natural beauty of America and how friendly people are.
There’s plenty to be proud of in this country.
I saw a poll where 55% of Democrats would rather live in another country. Please go, and the sooner the better.
