SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The mayor of San Antonio is trying to cancel a Kanye West concert scheduled for the Fourth of July.
Gina Ortiz-Jones confirmed her position in a post to X over the weekend, and her comments come after West was hit with criticism for anti-semitic comments.
Uncertain is whether the show will go on or not. Tickets went on sale Thursday and it appears the 72,000-seat Alamodome is on pace to sell out.
A bipartisan group of lawmakers in Florida are also trying to get a West concert on Tampa cancelled before it happens on June 26.
I support canceling the @kanyewest concert.
Military City USA should not host someone with a record of hate speech and antisemitic comments in a city-funded facility like our Alamodome—not ever, and certainly not on July 4th, our Nation’s 250th birthday.
