The Tom Doak-designed Wild Spring Dunes, a new resort course near Nacogdoches, Texas, will open eight of its 18 holes to preview play starting Nov. 12. The course is scheduled to open fully in October 2026.

The eight holes in the preview loop can be played twice, forming an early 16-hole version of the full 18-hole course. All 18 holes will open to preview play in the spring of 2026. Go to wildspringdunes.com for more information.

Doak designed the course for Michael Keiser, co-owner of Sand Valley – currently home to four full-size and highly ranked public-access courses – in Wisconsin and son of Bandon Dunes Golf Resort founder Mike Keiser. Michael Keiser also is developing Rodeo Dunes outside Denver, which opens fully in 2027, and Old Shores in the Florida Panhandle, which is in pre-construction.

Doak’s course will be the first at Wild Spring Dunes. The team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw has routed a second course that is in the pre-construction stages at the property in East Texas, which is about a 2.5-hour drive from Dallas or Houston and a 1.5-hour drive from Shreveport, Louisiana. The property’s sandy terrain features surprising elevation changes for this part of Texas.

Plans also call for the construction of a short course, a putting course and a state-of-the-art practice facility at the 2,400-acre Wild Spring Dunes. Construction of a clubhouse and lodge is planned to begin soon, and cottage sites and home sites are available.
