A new brush fire northeast of Carefree has burned 25 acres and is threatening buildings near Sears Kay Ranch. The Kay Fire sparked Monday in desert brush northeast of Carefree. Officials say the flames have spread to 25 acres with zero containment. Five engines, air support and hotshot crews are working to stop the flames. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
