LEAKEY, Texas — It’s not every day someone reports a missing giraffe in Texas, but that’s exactly what’s happened in Real County.

A Hill Country ranch owner is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the safe return of a giraffe last seen in Leakey, about 90 miles northwest of San Antonio.

According to a post shared Monday by the Real County Animal Rescue-Shelter, a giraffe named Gracie escaped from Cedar Hollow Ranch and remains on the loose.

Gracie was last seen on a game camera west of Leakey and is described as having rounded ears.

The unusual report quickly gained attention on social media, with users expressing surprise that a giraffe was roaming the Texas Hill Country.

Anyone with information about Gracie’s whereabouts is asked to contact owner Vick Jones at (830) 279-5822 or the Real County Sheriff’s Office at (830) 232-5201.

Officials did not say when the giraffe went missing or how she escaped from the ranch.
