LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – With schools out for the summer and childhood hunger spiking, Mrs. Baird’s Bread and United Supermarkets are partnering once again to support families in need.
The companies’ fourth annual ‘Fighting Texas Hunger’ campaign is underway, providing a significant boost to the South Plains Food Bank this summer.
Volunteers from Mrs. Baird’s Bread are helping assemble meal kits to ensure that local families and children have food on the table during the summer months.
Summer meal kits include a full loaf of Mrs. Baird’s Bread and a full jar of peanut butter and jelly provided by United.
“We’re honored to partner with Mrs. Baird’s to come together to fight food insecurity over the summer months,” Joey Marcades with the United Family said. “You know, obviously it’s another longstanding partnership, but that’s core to who we are. It’s helping fight hunger in our areas and our communities.”
This year marks the fourth consecutive year for the ‘Fighting Texas Hunger’ initiative.
