The most common comment on posts about Oak Lawn united Methodist Church painting its entry stairs facing Cedar Springs Road rainbow colors was to challenge Cedar Springs merchants to do something similar. Salon Aura is the first to meet that challenge.
On Monday, Nov. 3, we were delighted to see Salon Aura painted a rainbow above its entrance.
The new rainbows are a protest against Gov. Greg Abbott’s order to remove rainbow crosswalks across the state. Studies show there are fewer accidents in rainbow crosswalks and our experience on Cedar Springs Road supports the studies. Before the 2020 installation of 10 rainbow crosswalks, there was a spate of pedestrian-involved accidents on the strip. Since then, there have been none.
