In an autopsy report, El Paso County Coroner Jarod Murdoch ruled the manner of death of Kaden Sites, 27, of Salida to be a self-inflicted shotgun wound.

The autopsy was performed April 27 and signed by Murdoch May 18; it was shared to The Mail via CORA request June 24.

Sites went missing on a hunting trip near Mount Shavano April 15, and after 10 days of searching, his body was found at Tabeguache Creek, about 1.5 miles away from where his truck was parked.

He was found by a volunteer searcher and recovered by the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office, Chaffee County Search and Rescue and the Chaffee County Coroner’s Office.
