PLANO, Texas — What better way to end a soccer tournament weekend than being in a fun, air-conditioned adventure park? Takeoff Adventure Park was the perfect place to have family-friendly fun, a contrast to the weekend theme of hot, humid outdoor activities.
Located in Plano, Texas, and opened in December, this indoor attraction appeals to all ages, even the parents who love to be right in the mix with their children. It offers the best of typical indoor park facilities such as the trampolines, a ninja course and a ball pit, and even those attractions were remarkable. It also had an arcade area, soccer court, slides and much more.

My youngest child’s favorite part was “The Playground,” a ball pit mixed with slides, climbing walls and floats they can ride on top of the balls. My soccer player spent most of his time on the soccer court — even though he just spent a whole weekend playing the sport. Then my middle child took full advantage of the ninja course. My 4-year-old was able to do the ninja course too, which usually is not allowed. Unfortunately, he did not like it.
According to the park’s website, it is supposed to have bumper balls; however, they were not out when I was there which was a big disappointment. Making my children fall in bumper balls was right up my alley. But watching the children do flips on the trampoline while I did face-plants was just as exciting.

Unlike most indoor venues, guests are allowed to bring their own food and drinks. This is a great way to save money and convenient when hosting themed birthday parties — some of us like catering the food to the theme. I can see this being a great place to host a party, and the party rooms are a decent size.
This is also a great place to take the adolescents when the grandparents come to visit. My mom loves just watching them play, and the building has adequate seating for her to watch no matter where they go.

As with most indoor parks, Takeoff pricing is based on the amount of time spent in the establishment. They judge the toddler pricing based on height — 42 inches and under — costing from $20 to $28 with sessions ranging from 90-minutes to all-day passes. General pricing for everyone else is $24 to $32. A great feature is that spectators do not have to pay. We paid for a 90-minute session, and I think that was more than enough time for dad and me, but of course the little ones could have gone longer.
