Trevor Goldenetz announced on Wednesday that he will transfer to Texas for the 2027 baseball season. Goldenetz spent the first year of his college career as an outfielder on the Long Beach State roster.
As a freshman, Goldenetz earned an honorable mention on the Big West’s all-conference team while hitting .369 with 12 RBIs, 26 runs, 10 stolen bases and more walks (20) than strikeouts (16). During a March showdown against UC Santa Barbara star Jackson Flora, who is projected to be a top-10 pick in next month’s MLB Draft, Goldenetz went 1-for-2 with a walk.
The six-foot, 180-pound Goldenetz was limited by a hand injury during a 2026 season that featured just 32 games and 111 at-bats. Over Long Beach State’s final 21 games, Goldenetz made just one appearance as a late-inning defensive substitution.
The arrival of Goldenetz comes as Texas is retooling an outfield that is set to lose Aiden Robbins to the MLB Draft and has already lost Dariyan Pendergrass to graduation and Maddox Monsour to the transfer portal. Anthony Pack Jr. will return to Texas after a breakout freshman campaign, and Ashton Larson logged playing time in left field and at first base during his junior year. Two-sport athlete Jonah Williams, who was limited to eight games by a shoulder injury this past spring, and incoming freshman Trent Maybin could conceivably compete for playing time in the outfield.
