BURLESON – Kathy Jean Spakowski, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Celebration of Life: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in Mount Olivet Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in the Breyley Suite at Mount Olivet. Kathy was born on August 3, 1950, in Denton, Texas, to James Matheson and Anna Belle Carter. She was lovingly raised by her mother, Anna Belle (Carter) Wharton, and her stepfather, W.L. Wharton, whose guidance and support helped shape the woman she became. On January 26, 1966, Kathy married the love of her life, Mark Spakowski, in Fort Worth, Texas. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion to one another. They shared 55 wonderful years of marriage before Mark’s passing. Kathy had a special gift for making every season feel like Christmas, a holiday she celebrated in spirit throughout the entire year. She enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, reading her bible, listening to her favorite Christian music, and spending time with those she loved. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures such as ice cream, pickles, going on cruises, and movie nights complete with a slushy, and popcorn without butter. Kathy will be remembered for her warm heart, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family. Her gentle spirited, unconditional love for her family created a legacy that will live on through the many lives she touched. Though she will be greatly missed, her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. The family invites all who knew and loved Kathy to join them in celebrating a life well lived and a love that will never be forgotten. Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mark Spakowski; her son, Adam Spakowski; her mother, Anna Belle Wharton; her birth father, James Matheson; and her stepfather, W.L. Wharton. She is survived by her children, Toni Valigura, and husband Vern of Burleson, Texas; Tammy Ables-Klein, and husband Bill of Burleson, Texas; Tracy Hunt and husband Bill of Frederick, Oklahoma; Tanya Spakowski-Lane and husband Jonathan of Burleson, Texas; Stephanie Spakowski of Fort Worth, Texas; Jẽan Mark Spakowski of Waco, Texas; Jonah Spakowski of Burleson, Texas; and Joshua Spakowski of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings; 26 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
