Arlington police say a 41-year-old man called 911 saying someone was shot, but that turned out not to be true, police say.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police have arrested a man they said made a false report about a shooting.
Officers got the call at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday to a motel in the 3000 block of Abram St. with a guest saying someone had been shot.
When officers arrived, police say they found no evidence of a shooting or any crime occurred. They said they did talk to 41-year-old Oscar Vela Jr. who admitted to making the false report.
Vela Jr. has been charged with one count of False Report Inducing Emergency Response. Police said he also had other outstanding misdemeanor warrants and was booked on those as well.
Jail records show Vela Jr.’s current bond has been set at just over $4,000.
