Corpus Christi approves purchase of four new police motorcycles

Corpus Christi City Council approved four new police motorcycles to replace aging units and maintain the CCPD motorcycle fleet.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi City Council has approved the purchase of four new Harley-Davidson police motorcycles for the Corpus Christi Police Department, replacing aging units that have exceeded their service life.

The approximately $180,000 purchase includes four 2026 Harley-Davidson Police Road King responder motorcycles equipped with upgraded emergency lighting, modern electronics and redesigned engines intended to improve reliability and performance for officers on patrol.

City officials said the new motorcycles will replace several older units in the department’s fleet, including one motorcycle that was damaged beyond repair in a crash. The replacement plan is part of the city’s ongoing effort to maintain a safe and dependable fleet for law enforcement operations.

Despite the purchase, the overall size of the department’s motorcycle unit will remain unchanged at 12 motorcycles.

The motorcycles are commonly used for traffic enforcement, special events, escorts and other public safety duties throughout the city.

Officials also said the retired motorcycles will be sold at auction. Money generated from those sales will be directed toward future fleet replacement efforts, helping offset costs associated with maintaining department vehicles.

City leaders noted that replacing vehicles and equipment before maintenance costs become excessive helps ensure officers have reliable tools while supporting long-term fleet management goals.
