The city’s 78130 ZIP code ranked No. 1 in the nation for total move volume in May, marking the second consecutive month New Braunfels has led the rankings compiled by MovingPlace. The report analyzed 590,147 residential moves recorded nationwide during the month.
Researchers found 384 moves were recorded within the 78130 ZIP code in May, down slightly from 419 moves in April but still enough to secure the top spot nationally. The city finished ahead of rapidly growing communities, including McKinney and Leander, which ranked second and third, respectively.
“New Braunfels held the top spot for total move volume in May for the second consecutive month, reflecting the durability of this I-35 corridor city’s appeal,” the report states. Researchers cited the city’s combination of Hill Country charm, highly rated schools and relatively attainable housing prices as factors fueling continued demand.
The latest rankings reinforce New Braunfels’ position as one of the fastest-growing communities in Texas. Located between San Antonio and Austin, the city has experienced years of population growth, accompanied by major residential developments, retail expansion and new business investment along the I-35 corridor.
Texas dominated the national rankings overall, claiming six of the top 10 spots for total move volume. In addition to New Braunfels, McKinney, Leander, Pflugerville and two Katy ZIP codes appeared on the list.
While New Braunfels led the nation in total move volume, the report’s per-capita rankings told a different story. Aurora, Colorado, and Port Saint Lucie, Florida, tied for the nation’s hottest ZIP code based on moves per 1,000 residents. Meanwhile, April leader Inlet Beach, Florida, dropped out of the top 10 entirely.
MovingPlace said the rankings are based on proprietary Porch Group data tracking residential moves across the United States. For the report, all moves with a destination address within a ZIP code were counted, including moves originating from the same ZIP code, providing a snapshot of overall moving activity within a community. The June 2026 report examined moves that occurred during May.
