EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) —Abundant Church will hold its Mega Food Giveaway this weekend to provide essential food supplies to over 2,000 families.
Organizers stated that the giveaway is open to everyone. Food will be distributed from two semi-trucks filled with non-perishable items, including canned foods, pasta, snacks, and drinks, all delivered by Convoy of Hope.
The Mega Food Giveaway is part of Abundant Church’s Heart of Abundant outreach initiative, which seeks to extend the church’s mission beyond its walls by meeting practical needs while creating opportunities for connection, encouragement, and hope, according to organizers.
“Abundant church, for over 49 years, has always had a passion to serve our community,” Jared Neiman, the lead pastor of Abundant Church, said to KTSM. “That’s the true heart of our church, is that we’re blessed to be a blessing, and we have a passion to help people when there’s a time of need.”
The Mega Food Giveaway will take place on Sunday, June 28, at 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. at Abundant East, located at 1000 Valley Crest Drive.
Those who attend will receive a coupon during the Sunday service that can be used to redeem food supplies.
Church leaders said they hope the event will become a new annual tradition for El Paso families, bringing the community together outside of the busy holiday season while helping meet a critical need
“We love El Paso, we love our community, we love the surrounding areas, and hopefully this will help provide a supplement to people who are going through a difficult time,” Neiman said.
