Texas continued its recent run of recruiting dominance by picking up a commitment from one of the premier defensive backs in the Dallas area Saturday.

Garland Lakeview four-star cornerback Montre Jackson announced his commitment to UT, picking the Longhorns over Ole Miss and SMU.

UT is getting a player with track speed. Jackson has run wind-aided times of 10.39 in the 100 meters and 21.02 in the 200.

With Jackson’s commitment, the top 20 recruits in the Dallas area have now made their college pledges. The top uncommitted player in D-FW is Forney offensive lineman Mason Joshua.

Jackson is the 10th player to commit to Texas in June. Eight of those players are five-star or four-star recruits.

Jackson joins a UT recruiting class that was ranked No. 5 in the country before his commitment. He is the third cornerback to commit to the Longhorns for the 2027 class, joining five-star recruit John Meredith III from North Crowley and four-star recruit Karnell James from Manvel.
