EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) – Two people are facing charges after deputies say they seized more than 200 fentanyl pills from a car parked outside a convenience store.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office announced the incident Sunday, which happened June 19 at the Loaf N’ Jug at Galley Road and Hathaway Drive in Cimarron Hills.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the business on reports of a suspicious vehicle.
“The reporting party stated there were two individuals inside the vehicle who appeared to be impaired, and the vehicle had been there for approximately one hour,” the sheriff’s office said.
When deputies got to the scene, the car was still running, and the man and woman inside were passed out.
“The occupants were contacted and identified as 38-year-old Rudy Fuentes and 62-year-old Angela Vigil,” the sheriff’s office said. “Fuentes, the passenger, had an active warrant. He was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. During a search of his person, deputies located drug paraphernalia. Vigil, the driver, was also removed from the vehicle. During a search of her person, deputies located fentanyl.”
After searching the car, EPSO says the deputies found 212 fentanyl pills, $2,300 in cash, and small Ziploc-style baggies.
Fuentes and Vigil were booked into the El Paso County jail on multiple drug charges. Fuentes is facing charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Vigil is facing those charges, as well additional charges of DUI and unlawful distribution, manufacture, dispensing, or sale of a controlled substance.
Both have since bonded out.
