Arch Manning: Texas football QB reveals funniest member of family

THIBODAUX, La. — When it comes to the Manning family, jokes come flying as fast as touchdown passes.

Peyton and Eli Manning, who played a combined 33 years as NFL quarterbacks, have become two of the most popular pitchmen in the nation with their self-deprecating humor and popular Monday Night Football “ManningCast.”

Cooper Manning — the older brother of Peyton and Eli and the father of Texas football quarterback Arch Manning — tends to steal any scene when he pops up. Heck, even Archie Manning, the family’s patriarch at 77 years old, shows off his comedic chops in the occasional ad.

But if you ask Arch Manning, the funniest member of the family lives in Austin. Heid Manning, two years younger than the 22-year-old Arch Manning and a student at the University of Texas, drew the title from Arch Manning when asked by a reporter after a camp session at the Manning Passing Academy at Nicholls State University.

“My brother, he’s pretty funny,” Arch Manning said

Funnier than Cooper, who mugged his way through a press conference with his brothers and dad earlier in the morning?

“My dad’s probably funnier in front of a crowd, like in those meetings in there,” he said, motioning to the Nicholls State facilities. “In those staff meetings, he’s pretty funny. But with Heid, it’s probably more inappropriate.”

So, that means no examples of Heid’s humor, right?

“Nah,” Arch Manning said, flashing a grin.

Along with about 20 other top collegiate quarterbacks this weekend, Manning serves as a counselor at the four-day clinic for high school football players that was founded in 1996 by his grandfather, Archie Manning.
