COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M Athletics announced Sunday the hiring of Leroy Burrell as its next head track& field coach.
Burrell succeeds Pat Henry, who led the Aggies to 10 national championships during his tenure in College Station.
Burrell led his alma mater, the University of Houston, from 1999 to 2022 before serving as head coach at Auburn for four years.
During his coaching career, Burrell has produced 19 individual national champions, 266 All-Americans and 376 conference champions.
The Philadelphia native was also an accomplished competitor. He won an Olympic gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay at the 1992 Barcelona Games and claimed two World Championships in the same event.
