One of Texas’ biggest college football programs is the focus of a new Paramount+ documentary series. As anticipation for kickoff begins to build, the streaming service announced Monday it has approved a four-part series following the Texas Tech Red Raiders through a pivotal offseason ahead of the 2026 football season.
The series, produced by Skydance Sports and Second Wind Creative, has been in production since January and is expected to premiere before the college football season begins, according to Paramount+.
“Texas Tech football has one of the most passionate fanbases in college sports, and this docuseries will give them an unprecedented look at what it takes to build an elite program,” said Jane Wiseman, head of originals for Paramount+. “This series is exactly the kind of premium scripted and unscripted sports storytelling our subscribers love.”
Directed by Micah Brown, whose credits include “Coach Prime” and “Untold: Sign Stealer,” the series follows head coach Joey McGuire as he works to build a new team identity during what Paramount+ describes as one of the most consequential offseasons in college football history.
“This documentary will give the Red Raider Nation an inside look at everything that makes Texas Tech Athletics special, the people, the passion, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines this program every day,” said Kirby Hocutt, Texas Tech’s director of athletics. “We are incredibly proud that Paramount+ selected Texas Tech for a groundbreaking documentary with rare access.”
Skydance Sports, the studio behind the documentary series “Rafa” and “aka Charlie Sheen,” as well as the Golden Globe-nominated film “Air,” starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, is producing the series. The studio recently earned 10 Sports Emmy nominations for projects including “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys,” “WWE: Unreal,” “Elway” and “SAQUON.”
Paramount+ has not announced an exact premiere date.
