McKinney residents will be the first in the United States to experience KFC’s latest concept, which will feature a new design and menu changes.

The fried chicken chain announced that by late summer, it will open a restaurant with an open-concept design that will offer a more modern experience rather than the classic fast-food restaurant setting, according to a press release.

The new restaurant will be located at 8751 Eldorado Parkway in McKinney.

In addition to the sleek styling, the chain will revamp its menu to focus on boneless chicken products, particularly chicken strips, designed to be paired with a new line of more than 20 sauces.

Among the flavors of the new sauces are Chimichurri Ranch and Hot Honey Habanero, though the company noted that the offerings will be tailored to local tastes.

The transformation includes new beverage options in their “Kwench” line, such as flavored boba refreshers, Krunch Shakes (yes, milk shakes topped with a drizzle sauce and crunchy biscuit crumbs), sparkling lemonades and iced coffees. These drinks are already available in other countries but will begin rolling out to stores in the United States.

KFC operates more than 34,000 restaurants in over 150 countries. The company revealed that, on average, it opens a new location somewhere in the world every three and a half hours.
