Millions of Americans will be celebrating the Fourth of July this weekend in Texas, and the weather is set up to be a classic summer day for the celebrations.
The Fourth of July is set to be a hot one across the United States, and Texas will be no different, with temperatures holding around 100 degrees across the state.
Friday, July 3 will feature temperatures around 95 degrees for much of Texas to begin the holiday weekend. Independence Day will be slightly warmer for the central part of the state, rising to around 100 degrees. It will be slightly cooler on Sunday with temperatures dropping to around 97 degrees.
“While highs in the mid-to-upper 90s will be commonplace Thursday (80s in the higher terrain), upper 90s and highs near the century mark become more widespread by Friday and Saturday,” the Midland/Odessa NWS said for the West Texas region. “Shower and thunderstorm chances (generally 20-40%) also become more confined to the higher terrain west of the Pecos during this timeframe, especially the Davis Mountains.”
Current precipitation chances for the state on Friday are non-existent across the state before increasing on Saturday. West Texas holds around a 10% chance of rain for Saturday, July 4, while rain chances also increase on the eastern portion of the state towards Louisiana at around 15% to 20%. The rain chances further increase for much of the state on Sunday, with rain chances rising to around 25% to 30%.
“For the remainder of the week into the Holiday Weekend, the upper level ridge will remain off to the northeast of the forecast area, allowing moist southeast flow around it and some what of a weakness aloft,” the Lake Charles NWS said for the eastern portion of Texas. “Therefore, diurnal and sea breeze showers and thunderstorms can be expected. The activity again will likely diminish after sunset and before evening holiday festivities (fireworks) take place.”
