Austin police say a woman suspected of stealing credit cards from an employee-only area at an Austin business earlier this year has been linked to a similar theft reported by a victim in Dallas.

The Austin Police Department announced on Tuesday that detectives received new information linking the two cases after a Dallas resident contacted investigators and provided images of the suspect and the vehicle.

Dallas Victim Reported Similar Scheme

According to Austin police, the Dallas incident occurred on June 15 at about 4:45 p.m. at an office park located at 8340 Meadow Road.

The victim told investigators the woman entered the building posing as a food delivery person. Once inside an employee-only area, she allegedly removed credit cards from the victim’s purse, then returned the wallet to its original location to avoid raising suspicion.

Police said the stolen credit cards were later used at CVS and Tom Thumb stores in the Dallas area.

Austin detectives said the images provided by the Dallas victim show the suspect wearing the same style of slides and leggings she wore during the Austin incident in February.

The Austin Police Department noted that the Dallas Police Department has no record of the June 15 incident and is not currently investigating the case.

Austin Theft Occurred in Employee Breakroom

The Austin investigation stems from a February 2 theft at a business in the 3500 block of Far West Boulevard.

According to police, a masked woman entered an employee-only breakroom and stole credit cards from a victim’s wallet. The stolen cards were later used in both successful and unsuccessful attempts to purchase gift cards at an H-E-B store on Burnet Road and a Walgreens on Mesa Drive.

Suspect Description

Police describe the suspect as:

Black female
Heavy build
Approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall
About 250 pounds

Investigators said she has a tattoo on her left wrist, multiple tattoos on her right arm, and wears a distinctive white bracelet on her right wrist.

In the Austin case, the suspect was seen driving a white Toyota Prius believed to be a 2010-2015 model. In the Dallas incident, she was reportedly driving a black Volkswagen Atlas SEL R-Line SUV.

Austin police are asking anyone with information about the suspect or either incident to contact the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477.

Tips can be submitted anonymously, and a reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
