Lubbock teen indicted on assault, evading arrest charges after police chase in May

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock County grand jury indicted a 17-year-old Tuesday on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of evading arrest with a vehicle following a police chase in early May in south Lubbock.

Xavier Alaniz was identified by police as the driver of the vehicle involved in the chase, which began just after midnight near 82nd St. and Frankford Ave. on May 2 when officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

Alaniz did not stop for officers, initiating a pursuit. The chase ended when Alaniz lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a light pole near 114th St. and Frankford Ave.
