COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Tuesday morning, health officials issued Air Quality Health Advisories for Fremont, Teller, Huerfano, Pueblo, El Paso, Lincoln, Elbert, Morgan, Washington and eastern Custer Counties.
The air quality alert was issued at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The alert lasts through 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The air quality alert is in effect due to wildfire smoke making its way through southern Colorado. Multiple fires, including the ‘Aspen Acres Fire‘ and the ‘Big Sheep Fire,’ are spreading wildfire smoke through nearby communities.
If smoke becomes thick in your neighborhood, you are urged to stay indoors, especially if you suffer from heart disease or respiratory illnesses, or are very young or an older adult.
You are asked to limit outdoor activity if moderate or heavy smoke is present.
If smoke is present inside and is making you feel sick, CDPHE says you should consider relocating.

Smoke from the ‘Aspen Acres Fire’ is visible in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Fire Department is asking the public to refrain from reporting visible smoke and keep the line open for emergencies where someone or their property is in immediate danger.
