Texas Tech is about to give fans access they’ve never had before. After months of cameras following the Red Raiders behind the scenes, Paramount+ has greenlit a four-part documentary series that promises an unfiltered look inside Joey McGuire’s football program during one of the most consequential offseasons in college football.

The university and streaming service announced Tuesday, June 29 that the series has been filming since January and is slated to premiere ahead of the 2026 college football season. Produced by Skydance Sports and Second Wind Creative, the project follows McGuire and his staff as they navigate the realities of building a contender in today’s rapidly changing college football landscape.

The series also comes after Texas Tech became a focal point of the offseason following quarterback Brendan Sorsby’s gambling-related eligibility battle. Sorsby, who transferred to Texas Tech but never played a game for the Red Raiders, ultimately was ruled ineligible and later denied entry into the NFL supplemental draft after a legal fight over his sports betting history. It’s unclear if any of the controversy will be featured in the series.

Directed by Micah Brown, whose credits include Coach Prime and Netflix’s Untold: Sign Stealer, the series will offer viewers unprecedented access to the day-to-day life that shapes the Red Raiders before they ever take the field.

“This has proven to be a landscape-altering offseason and we’ve been lucky to have a front row seat,” Greg Groggel, SVP Unscripted for Skydance Sports, said in a news announcement. “This series will present fans and viewers with an unprecedented window into everything that is defining college football today.”

“Texas Tech football has one of the most passionate fanbases in college sports, and this docuseries will give them an unprecedented look at what it takes to build an elite program,” Jane Wiseman, Paramount+’s executive vice president and head of originals, said in a statement.

Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt called the series an opportunity to showcase the people and culture behind the program.

“This documentary will give the Red Raider Nation an inside look at everything that makes Texas Tech Athletics special, the people, the passion, and the relentless pursuit of excellence that defines this program every day,” Hocutt said. “We are incredibly proud that Paramount+ selected Texas Tech for a groundbreaking documentary with rare access.”

The series joins a growing list of behind-the-scenes sports documentaries, but few college football programs have opened their doors this widely during an active offseason.

For Texas Tech, it’s a chance to showcase a program that has become one of the sport’s biggest offseason storylines, and let fans see how a modern roster is built long before kickoff.
