The veteran back was elevated from the practice squad for Monday night’s game against the Cardinals after the Cowboys announced rookie Jaydon Blue would be inactive. Davis got one carry for a three-yard rush vs. Arizona and also played on special teams. He’ll be eligible to return to the Cowboys’ practice squad should he clear waivers.
Originally signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022, Davis is in his fourth season in the Cowboys organization. He’s played in three games in 2025. He has 167 career rushing yards for the Cowboys.
After three seasons, the Cowboys faced reality and dealt away Smith in the trade for Quinnen Williams.
Jerry Jones and the Cowboys go for the proven commodity at the trade deadline.
The former All-Pro defensive tackle is coming to Dallas as part of deadline day trade with the New York Jets.
