After playing two dates of a four-show Fort Worth run, Rush has postponed its remaining two Dickies Arena shows after singer and bassist Geddy Lee was diagnosed with laryngitis and bronchitis, the band announced Tuesday.
The Canadian rock band said its June 30 show has been rescheduled for July 11, and its July 2 show has been rescheduled for July 13.
Lee, 72, was evaluated by doctors and advised to take additional time to rest and recover before returning to the stage, Rush said in a Facebook post.
“This is incredibly disappointing for all of us,” the band wrote. “We know many of you have made travel plans and have been counting down the days to these shows.”
All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates. Fans who are unable to attend can seek refund information from their original point of purchase, according to the band.
The Fort Worth dates are part of Rush’s “Fifty Something” Tour, which began June 7 at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, with a four-show run before stops in Mexico City and Fort Worth.
The tour is the band’s first in more than a decade and its first without longtime drummer Neil Peart, who died of brain cancer in 2020. German drummer Anika Nilles is filling Peart’s seat on the current run.
Rush, which has sold more than 40 million records worldwide, according to its website, made its Dallas-Fort Worth debut in 1974 at the Travis Street Electric Company.
Rush said the decision was not made lightly and thanked fans for their patience and support while Lee recovers.
