Getting into character: Kids take the stage for ‘Godspell Jr.’ musical in Corpus Christi

ArtWalk: Enjoy live music, local art, vendors and food trucks in downtown Corpus Christi during ArtWalk, a monthly event, from 6 to 10 p.m. Downtown bars, shops and venues keep the party going after 10 p.m. Cost: Free to attend. Information: downtowncorpuschristi.org/events/first-friday-artwalk.
Independence Parade: Head to the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Learning Center for its Independence Parade at 8545 S. Staples St. The parade will start at the Plumeria Garden and then follow with a Patriotic Attire Contest in the Rose Pavilion, where winners will receive a membership or a gift shop certificate. Knifeprty — Tribute to Deftones: House of Rock will host cover band Knifeprty at 6 p.m. Cost: Free. Information: texashouseofrock.com.

“Godspell Jr.”: Join Harbor Playhouse for its production of “Godspell Jr.,” a musical about a group of disciples who help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and comic timing. Time: 7:30 p.m. Cost: $20. Information: harborplayhouse.com.
EZ Band: Brewster Street Ice House will host cumbia group EZ Band at 8 p.m. Cost: $27.75 to $85.50. Information: brewsterstreet.net.
Fourth of July: How Corpus Christi will celebrate America’s 250th birthday
July 4
Rockport Art Festival: The Rockport Center for the Arts will host its 58th annual Rockport Art Festival for two days at the Festival Grounds at Rockport Harbor at 1500 E. Laurel St. in Rockport. Enjoy a weekend of fine art, coastal culture, live music, food and community with more than 140 artists showcasing and selling their original works. Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: $10 to $15. Coastal Comida Fest: The Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department will host its fourth annual Coastal Comida Fest at Water’s Edge Park at 602 S. Shoreline Blvd. Enjoy live music, local vendors, food trucks, drinks and more before the annual Mayor’s Fourth of July Big Bang Fireworks Show. Time: 1 to 10 p.m. Cost: Free.
