Lubbock ties daily temperature record, cold front to push through over weekend

  • November 5, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Today’s high of 88 degrees tied the record that was set on this day in 2017 and again in 2020. Another day of 80s is ahead for Wednesday, but they will be slightly lower.

Winds will turn to the northwest tomorrow morning as lows fall to the 40s and 50s. That change will be followed by gusty winds from the northeast by midday in Lubbock as a cold front moves across the region. Due to the continued warm temps and dry conditions, fire danger will continue over the South Plains. Use caution with any burning and/or sparks that could occur with outdoor activities the remainder of the week.

Another cold front will push into the area on Saturday, and it will be strong enough to return daytime highs to the 60s by Sunday into early next week. In addition, nighttime lows will fall to the 20s and 30s over all the area on Sunday and Monday mornings.

This will be another dry cold front and it will produce winds from the north to northeast at 15-25 mph and likely stronger. That front may impact the Texas Tech football game on Saturday.
