A Victorian-style Pilates studio in Uptown was left severely damaged Wednesday morning after a fire sent flames through the roof of the building, Dallas firefighters said.
The fire was reported at Pilates Methodology in the 2600 block of Routh Street at 4:01 a.m., said Jason Evans, a spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue. The 911 caller reported seeing smoke coming from the second floor of the studio, Evans said.
Firefighters also saw heavy smoke as they arrived at the two-story building, Evans said. The fire grew, and a two-alarm response was called. The fire was changed to a three-alarm fire less than 30 minutes later, he said.
Flames began to show through the roof, but firefighters were able to get the fire under control, Evans said. The fire was declared out at 5:59 a.m.
Evans said the studio was undergoing renovation, but it’s unclear if that caused the fire. He said the damage to the studio was severe, and firefighters also had to provide exposure protection to a neighboring home to prevent further damage.
Evans said no one was inside the building during the fire. There are no reported injuries.
